- COMAL Corner #8
- ===== ====== ==
-
- by Joel Ellis Rea
-
-
- Welcome, fellow COMALites, to yet
-
- another installment of COMAL Corner.
-
- This month we continue the COMAL 0.14
-
- Tutorial, as well as report the June
-
- COMAL PlayNotes (the summaries of the
-
- Thursday evening COMAL meetings on the
-
- PlayNET Telecommunications Service).
-
- As far as programs go, this month
-
- brings 'Higher-Lower', the classic
-
- parlor game written in COMAL Kernal,
-
- so it is compatible with both COMALs.
-
- Try to guess the C64's randomly-chosen
-
- number in the range 1-1000 in 12 or
-
- fewer guesses. This is an excellent
-
- example of how COMAL's structure makes
-
- programs not only easier to write, but
-
- also easier to READ! LIST the program
-
- and see for yourself. You can get
-
- into the program by LOADing COMAL and
-
- then ENTERing "LK*"
-
- The tutorial this month covers some
-
- of the most important COMAL system
-
- commands, such as NEW, LOAD, SAVE, CAT
-
- and PASS. It shows how to use PASS to
-
- format a new diskette, then SAVE the
-
- COMAL temperature-conversion program
-
- we have been working on to it, then
-
- CATalog the disk to make sure the
-
- program is there, then clear memory
-
- so a NEW program can be written or an
-
- old one LOADed.
-
- Next issue I will be reporting on
-
- the MARCA convention, both generally
-
- in the Paperless Pages, and COMAL in
-
- particular in the COMAL Corner. Watch
-
- for it! See you next issue or on any
-
- Thursday night PlayNET meeting!
-
- If you would like to run the COMAL

-
- pound) key.
